Subject: Lisa Pavelka's Magic Glos

I've just had my first experiment with the Lisa Pavelka Magic Glos and, wow, this stuff is so much fun and so simple. I popped my pc butterfly wings on some paper, squeezed a big blob on each, spread it around with a tooth pick and Bob's your uncle. Domes beautifully, re-levels itself after butterfly wing accidently knocked on the floor wrong-side up, and sets quickly even on a gloomy, overcast, miserable day. Some tips from my first experiments: 1) Don't drop the thing you're glossing upside down on the floor while the Glos is still wet. My butterfly wing still came out surprisingly good but now has some unwanted inclusions! 2) Apply the Glos inside so the sun doesn't get on your open Glos bottle. I unthinkingly applied mine outside to avoid my kids, but it only takes a tiny bit of UV to start the curing process so the nozzle on my Glos bottle got all gunked up with a cured bit of resin (contents all ok though). 3) For flat pieces without a 'frame' (like my butterfly wings) you'll need more than one coat. Because of it's doming properties the Glos pulls away from the edges. But I found with 2 or 3 generous applications that gravity did it's job and I got a nice dome to the edges. 4) It's messy, don't put your fingers in your mouth. Your tongue will feel weird for hours. Trust me on that! I'm now experimenting with some non pc stuff - encasing some cicada shells in the Glos for my son. It's so much more fun for him than ordinary resin because I can make a pendant in less than an hour rather than 24 to 48 hours. I'm going to get through this stuff fast! ooh and PS. Does the Glos come in bigger bottles Dani? I think I'm going to be using a lot of this stuff.

Hi Dani, This note is long in coming but still comes from my heart. I would like to thank you for the class I attended at Amya Beads. I had been wanting to take a class in polymer clay beads but only knew of one and that was much further down the coast.
