Precious Metal Clay (PMC)
Precious Metal Clay (PMC) was developed in the early 1990's by Mitsubishi in Japan. PMC consists of microscopic particles of silver suspended in an organic binder to create a pliable material. PMC can be worked to create a vast range of forms that cannot be achieved using traditional techniques. When heated to high temperatures, the binder burns away leaving the pure sintered metal. You can hallmark your pieces .999 fine silver. PMC3 is the most recent development of all the PMC's. It is the most dense of the PMC products and fires at lower temperatures meaning it can be fired with a gas torch or stove instead of with a kiln (if desired). PMC3 has a shinkage rate of approximately 12-15%.
